17 Key Attributes Advertising Sales Agents Need To Succeed In Their Career

Advertising sales agents sell or solicit advertising space, time, or media in publications, signage, TV, radio, or Internet establishments or public spaces.

The core tasks that advertising sales agents are likely to carry out include:

  • Maintain assigned account bases while developing new accounts.
  • Explain to customers how specific types of advertising will help promote their products or services in the most effective way possible.
  • Provide clients with estimates of the costs of advertising products or services.
  • Locate and contact potential clients to offer advertising services.
  • Process all correspondence and paperwork related to accounts.

These attributes have been selected from characteristics and requirements strongly associated with the occupation. They are

  • Skills: These include basic skills, which are developed capacities that facilitate learning or the more rapid acquisition of knowledge. Plus cross-functional skills, which are developed capacities that facilitate performance of activities that occur across jobs
  • Style: Personal characteristics that can affect how well someone performs a job

Having a strong preference for enterprising work environments. Enterprising occupations frequently involve starting up and carrying out projects. These occupations can involve leading people and making many decisions. Sometimes they require risk taking and often deal with business.
